NaNoWriMo...? Yep. I'm going to try!

I've decided to take part in NaNoWriMo. Yeah, okay, laugh now. I've been trying to participate for seven years now, but something has always happened to stop me. This year, my computer crashed on me and has stopped working. (Perhaps) Luckily, I'm able to use my other half's laptop, so I'm going to take part!
After writing out a whole bunch of ideas I eventually decided to write a KAT-TUN OT6 pirate-themed fic. --laughs-- Yes, it means that the fic will contain as many variations of member-ai as I can fit in, with an eventual KAT-TUN-ai OT6 pairing. --grins-- Even if Akame is my main joy, I love all the members of KAT-TUN and this pairing just fit the fic idea.
The pirate theme is because I've been watching all of their concerts virtually back-to-back for the past few weeks, and so when it came to ideas, the whole pirate theme just wouldn't leave me alone. Damn you all! You all look too darn hot in those costumes! --wibbles--
I've done 23 pages of research so far, all handwritten in tiny writing, so my hands are knackered right now. --laughs-- I've written out the basic plot summary. The plot outline. The general timeline. The chapter titles. The chapter summaries (up to chapter 4, because I'm stuck there without more information, and I've been researching that info for nearly four hours --sigh--). Drawings of the rooms (layout and so forth) that I'm going to be using so I don't get mixed up when describing things.
Because I'm using a pirate theme, I spent most of yesterday researching pirates, and the ships they used and stuff. I've downloaded pictures and ship specs and designs and whatnot. My brain feels like sludge. --wince--
The story is going to have 22 chapters and an epilogue, so that I can hopefully wrap things up. I want to write at least 3k-5k words per chapter as a goal, so that if I start to fall behind I can push myself to get going again.
Anyway~ Wish me luck, yes? I'm really nervous and worried and panicked that I won't be able to get the research done in time, which will mean that I'm going to be bodging things.
Well, I'm just going to have to try my best, right?
Hugs all,
~Shi-koi~
(Because there's a postal strike on in our area, the new hard-drive we've bought for my PC might not turn up for NaNo, and I really don't want to have to type 50k words on this laptop. Especially since this laptop has sticky keys which don't always work well, so I'm always double and triple-checking what I've typed, which takes time away from writing anything. --groan--)

Date: 2009-11-03 06:33 pm (UTC)And every year I forget about it until it's the end of November. (Maybe I'll chance it next year? Bah, Probably not. xD)
Pirates. Yum.

Date: 2009-11-03 07:44 pm (UTC)Heh. I signed up for NaNo for the first time seven years ago, and then something happened and we actually ended up homeless, so there wasn't a chance in Hell of participating. --laughs-- Every year, at the end of October, something dreadful or just unfortunate has happened, and I ended up forgetting all about NaNo.
But, not this year. I had to make a new account because I don't have the same email or anything else (much less remember what they were), but it's been great.
So far I've managed 6890 words, so I'm ahead of the baseline minimum, and I'm doing NaNo with my other half, which keeps us both motivated.
Funny story though, at four minutes to midnight on the 31st, just before we were ready to type, my other half's PC crashed. It completely lost the OS, and we thought we'd be doomed. It was only due to a friend's spare HDD with an OS that we managed to work on day 1. --grin--
Well, you never know. Maybe next year you'll become inspired and then take part, right?
hint hintAnyway, it's good to see that you're still alive! =^___^= Have you been doing well?
And pirates? Definitely yum. --drools--

Fate is conspiring against you being in NaNoWriMo. I actually was brainstorming ideas on the bus awhile ago, and considered writing for NaNoWriMo this year, but then decided I've tortured myself enough in other ways than trying to make it through 50k words in a month.
