You've probably been able to guess by now just how much I adore time-travel fics, and how deeply I love FFVII. 'The Fifth Act' by
sinnatious is an incredible journey. The premise behind Cloud's time-travel is unique and original and utterly brilliant. The way
sinnatious captures Cloud's character and thoughts is utterly superb.
This story explodes out from your screen from the first chapter, and the action begins almost immediately, opening up with a dramatic fight between Genesis and Cloud. If you think that because
sinnatious is so good at writing Cloud means she may lack somehow at writing the other characters, don't worry,
sinnatious is so awesome and such an amazing writer that every single character that comes up in this story is perfectly presented. From Genesis to Sephiroth to Angeal to Zack to mini!Cloud to Aerith to Kunsel...this story is filled with characters who are emotive, gorgeously written and so real it's as though you are a bystander to every event in the story.
What makes this story such a shining diamond is the plot. I've found that sometimes if a story is heavily biased towards characterisations and character growth, the plot can lack in some ways, and vice versa, but not here. 'The Fifth Act' is a gorgeous combination of gripping, stunning, interest-grabbing plot, enhanced with superb characterisations and perfect grammar, spelling and all those other little things which differentiate a good story from a truly amazing one.

There's also a short oneshot sidefic here: The Fifth Act: Yuffie Redux
Any fan of FFVII, or of any of the above characters mentioned, or of time-travel fics really must check this story out. It's beyond words and better than you could ever imagine a story being.
