There's no such thing as an unselfish person. They just don't exist. You can justify your actions any way you like, but at the end of the day, we're all selfish creatures.

Everything we do, good and bad, is for ourselves.

You see someone in pain and want to help them? Why? Does it make you feel bad to see them like that? If you say you empathise with them, well, that just means that their pain hurts you, and you don't like that, so you want to take it away.

Maybe you donate to charity? Why? Because it's the right thing to do? Do you feel pressured by society? Or maybe you feel something for the cause and you want to help? Why? Would you feel bad if you had the means to help and you didn't?

Perhaps you have a habit of putting others before yourself. Either natural or a nurtured habit. Why? You want to see them happy? You're selfish, because you don't like seeing them unhappy, or whatever other reason you have.

Really though. Selfishness is a part of who and what we are. I have never, ever found any situation where the person described as being selfless is truly that. Every action, no matter how good, how apparently selfless is ever that.

Honestly? I don't see anything wrong with that.
