With Wings of Feathers and Glue by sambomaster
Crossover Fandoms: Harry Potter / Twilight
Rating: T (Teen Friendly)

This is a particularly odd entry. I adore Harry Potter fics, I really do. There's just so much diversity in genres and story types and ideas that I know I will always find something that suits my mood. With Twilight it's different. You see, I'm not a fan of Twilight, in fact, the books are atrocious and boring in my ever so humble opinion, and while I enjoyed the films (helped by a bottle of wine in each case) I still don't usually read in the Twilight fandom - no offence to any of you who are Twilight fans.

So, you're probably wondering why I'm listing this story as one of my favourite fanfics, right? --laughs--

To start with, this fanfic was recommended to my by a friend online, and I didn't want to be rude, or dismiss her recommendation out of hand, so I gave it a try...and I loved it. I still cannot stand Twilight, and I don't read in that fandom, but I'm not as averse to crossovers anymore.

'With Wings of Feathers and Glue' is amazingly written and, without trying so sound cliché, magical. The approach Sambomaster has taken to writing this story in unlike any Harry Potter fanfiction I've ever comes across, zhe makes the world of Harry Potter magical in a way that reminds me of being a child watching the Merlin movie and marveling at magic in action in all its decidedly odd and fun and delightful ways.

There are shades of Wonderland in hir story, and with its fat, striped cats, vines spitting sweaters and growing teapots filled with tea, onions that eat you if you hold them for too long and plants that are more like ravenous beasts, Sambomaster draws you into back into a world which makes you experience magic as though for the first time, all over again, all wide-eyed and amazed and spellbound.

The reason I go back to this story over and over again is because it never fails to grab my attention and pull me away from the real world and my troubles there, instead, it submerges me in this gorgeously rendered magical place which brightens my day up and chases my worries away.

If you want to experience the magic for yourself, just try clicking on the story title and give it a go. It will be worth it.

Title: With Wings of Feathers and Glue
          Author: sambomaster
Crossover Fandoms: Harry Potter / Twilight
          Status: WIP
          Word Count: 59,218
Summary: For his safety, sixth year Harry Potter must live abroad while attending Hogwarts.
There, lonely and out of place, he meets Alice Cullen, and inevitably, Edward Cullen as well.

There's just something about the way Sambomaster portrays the two worlds in these fandoms coming together that makes the story so smooth and real. There's no clear divide between fandoms, only in the magic, and this story will no doubt remain one of my favourites for a long time to come.

Hugs,

~Shi-koi~
